Z is for...

Z is for... by s.kosoris

And here it is: the end of my Minifigure Alphabet series! I feel like I cheated a little bit, because I used the undead for U and zombies are clearly a member of the undead. But I couldn't come up with any other minifigure that I have for Z, so I guess the undead ended up with two spots.

V is for...

V is for... by s.kosoris

Today was the fifth last letter of the alphabet, V. And what better minifigure than the Viking to signify V?

Today's picture involved the towels from D, F, and M, but rather than using water, I just used the same background of P (which happens to be another one of my pictures, "Powder Rock," which I printed out a long time ago for use as backgrounds).  I'm quite happy with the result.  :)

So now there are just four letters left to go!

U and T

U is for... by s.kosoris
U is for..., a photo by s.kosoris on Flickr.
I felt like I cheated a bit for this one. But try as I might, I could only come up with two possible things for U: the undead, and UFOs. I was originally going to use the UFO idea, but afterwards changed my mind and opted for the Undead. And I'm quite happy with my choice. So here today are a pirate skeleton, a vampire, and a mummy all hanging out having a drink. It's a simple shot, but I quite like it.

In case you missed it, yesterday's T was a picture of Trolls. I took my three trolls (one being the Troll Queen, who was absent from my Q picture) and posed them in the poinsettia we have in the house from Christmas. I took a lot of shots, but everything was just okay. And then I decided to try a different DOF, focusing on the Queen's staff as if she's blasting you with magic. I've done this DOF before, most notably in my "So Be It, Jedi" shot, and quite liked the results. And so "T is for..." became a very different shot from most of the others in this series. But that's okay with me - I'm very happy with how it turned out (even if it's hard to make out all three trolls!)

R is for...

Today was the first day this month where I opted for a plain black background. I was originally trying to think of something more exciting for this picture. But try as I might, nothing else seemed right. And many of the robots I have look rather striking on the plain black background, so in the end I feel it was well chosen. I have to admit, I'm rather proud of the fact that I've gotten all the way to R (the 18th letter!) before having to use it though. :)

Q is for...

Q is for... by s.kosoris

Today I tackled the letter Q. I decided early on that I would use Q for Queens (although I later realized that Q could also be for Qui-Gon Jinn...). So I gathered as many queens together as I could think of.

Then came the biggest problem: what should I use for a background? In the end, I decided that the Sand Dollar Cafe would be an interesting locale for the shot. The Sand Dollar Cafe is the very first Paradisa Lego set I received when I was younger. While I wanted the Castle sets, my extended family kept getting me Paradisa sets, and so Paradise kept getting invaded by pirates and the like. So Paradisa may not have been a great place for minifigures to vacation, but it always seemed to be the start of some interesting adventures!

I've long thought about taking some pictures with the Sand Dollar Cafe. It's probably my favourite Paradisa set because it always suggests to me a great meeting place, where people from all walks of life can meet up and have a cup of coffee or an ice cream. And that's what the four queens (and Qui-Gon) are all doing here.

A Thank You and a Quick Update

First, a big thank you to whoever bought a copy of "Some Fishing Action."  :)

Second, I just added a few new Lego pics to my Red Bubble Site.  They were taken during a picture taking adventure for Father's Day and then out at camp.  Of course, all of these and more are on my Flickr site as well, so take a look if you have a moment.  :)

"Fairy in the Flowers" now on Red Bubble!

Recently I took a fun picture of my fairy minifig hanging out in a gerber daisy.  While I posted two different versions of the same picture (you can find the other one here), I liked this one a lot better (it's currently my laptop's background!)  I liked it so much that I decided to share it on Red Bubble, too.

When I first tried shooting this picture, I didn't have a very good background.  Luckily I thought to use the poinsettia we had this Christmas; both the foreground leaf and the leaf behind the right gerber flower belong to the poinsettia.  To finish the shot off, I backlit the fairy using a flashlight hidden behind the leaves.

You can find "Fairy in the Flowers" for sale on Red Bubble, along with some of my other Lego pictures.
